Change your life NOW by Nadine Slater

Nadine Slater, a qualified performance coach, has been published with a thoughtfully written article to provide you with some hints and tips to get you moving forward with your goals, whether it is obtaining your qualification or developing your business.

So it’s the New Year and we’re looking for that perfect time to make changes – kicking that habit, setting up a new business, changing jobs, but when is the perfect time to do it? Today, says performance coach Nadine Slater.

As a woman who has been in high-powered positions, working for Sony and being part of an international team advising Lakshmi Mittal, who has topped the Sunday Times Rich List for six years running, Nadine has ample experience helping people raise their game in the business world.

She says in order to get what you want you need clarity, direction and focus – these are the three key points:

CLARITY: Firstly, be really clear about what it is you want. Many of us know what we are not happy about with our current situation, but you need to be very specific and visualise the outcome of your change, so you can work towards it. We are often our biggest obstacles – if we can get out of our own way and not trip ourselves up, we can start making steps towards the desired change.

DIRECTION: When you know what you want, you need to set goals. But how do you know when you have reached them? Often we tend to move the goal posts and there are always plenty more things to do. When we reach that initial target we don’t feel we have really achieved enough, so in order to stay motivated and keep on track, keep you eyes on the goal.

FOCUS: To get one step closer to your goal, don’t allow yourself to make excuses – you have to do things one step at a time, break the goal down and ask yourself: Is this realistic? Is this really what I want? It helps to sit down with a personal coach and work out a step-by-step programme to meet your goals.

Many people I meet spend years building careers they don’t actually want, so you need to reconnect with this purpose of your life and do the right things for the right reasons.

Three searching questions to ask yourself:

What is stopping you from doing what YOU WANT to do right now?
What is this costing you on a daily basis?
What will achieving your goal enable you to do?
