Stargirl – Book Review

Posted by: The Coaching Academy In: Book Reviews

Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli
(Knopf Books for Young Readers, 2002)

Reviewed by Joanna Sargent.

Although essentially a children’s tale, this future classic will nevertheless leave adults mesmerised by its magical quality.

Stargirl is a modern day messiah who comes into the lives of a small high school community and turns it upside down. At first everyone is enchanted by her uniqueness before turning against her.

A book about freedom and non-conformity this is a gem of a read that will really have you believing that maybe, just maybe, anything’s possible.
